Department: 060 - Housekeeping - Inpatient
Location: Leesburg, FL

FUNCTION: This employee works as assigned within the Housekeeping Department to perform routine manual tasks in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of facilities.


RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibility is for the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and otherwise caring for buildings and equipment. Cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping mopping, scrubbing and polishing. Empties and decontaminates trash containers. Disposes of infectious waste when assigned. Moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures. Mixes or blends routine cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks. Cleans and waxes floors using industrial-size mopes and/or machines. Strips and polishes floors using buffing machines. Washes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions. Sweeps sidewalks, porches, and tiled surfaces. Operates wet/dry vacuum for cleaning and shampooing carpeted areas. Maintains equipment; reports needs for painting and minor building or equipment repair to supervisor.


KNOWLEDGE AND JOB SKILLS: Some knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment. Follow oral and written instructions and relay information accurately. Read and understand labels.

Education: High School diploma preferred.


Experience: Preferred, but not required.


Personal Qualities: Initiative and consideration in the job, as well as a willingness to learn and do more.


Supervisory Responsibilities: None.


Special Factors: Must be able to handle large volumes of work. Must be physically capable of standing, walking and bending for extended periods of time and have sufficient strength to lift items.  


Essential Functions: Use of general housekeeping equipment.

Staff Development: AIDS training, Infection, OSHA, Fire and Safety, Ethical Conduct and any other staff development training to the department.
