Emergency Evaluator-Bachelor's level

Department: 036 - Access Center
Location: Citrus County, FL
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Primarily provides assessments and intervention services for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises and/or seeking substance abuse detoxification services.

Ability to withstand high levels of stress. Ability to work at a fast pace under high degree of pressure from time and space constraints. Comfortable working with individuals who can become verbally and physically aggressive individuals. Must be able to utilize critical and analytical thinking. Demonstrates a cooperative attitude to problem solving and conflict resolution with all levels of staff and in all interactions with families and outside professionals. Documents all contacts and evaluations using established methods and protocol in a timely, legible manner and in accordance with Center policy and procedures. This position must interact with individuals, courts, agencies, law enforcement and other professionals within the Center and community in order to effectively plan for the treatment of the client. Participate department meetings as required and keep supervisor advised of any problems, concerns or dissatisfactions related to the delivery of emergency services.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The position delivers behavioral healthcare services to individuals in crisis to determine the most appropriate level of care required. This position performs initial and preliminary assessment of individuals entering LifeStream Behavioral Centerís continuum of services. Provides face to face assessments to individuals deemed by themselves or others to be in crisis and needing immediate behavioral health treatment. Provides crisis intervention by telephone as needed and responds to calls for information and assistance. Assists individuals to obtain services not provided by the Access Center by linking to other programs within LifeStream or referring to professionals outside LifeStreamís array of services when necessary.

KNOWLEDGE AND JOB SKILLS: Knowledgeable of the dynamics of individuals with psychiatric disorders and their treatment. Knowledge of legal and ethical issues in the treatment of psychiatric patients. Must have a working knowledge of all laws pertaining to the voluntary and involuntary treatment of individuals deemed to be in danger of harming themselves or others by virtue of their behavior, mental illness or drug and/or alcohol use/abuse as specified in the Baker and Marchman Acts. Excellent interviewing and crisis intervention skills are essential to this position. Good communication skills are vital. Computer knowledge is vital to the satisfactory performance of this position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Masterís degree in human services or related field. 

Experience: A minimum of 2 year behavioral healthcare experience. 

Personal Qualities: Requires excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively and efficiently with individuals from multiple disciplines. Must be able to cooperate with co-workers and others in the community in such a manner, which is conducive to the well being of individuals and insures proper maintenance of continuity of care and confidentiality.

Staff Development: Completes all administrative and competency requirements as identified in his/her Individual Training Plan.
