Behavioral Specialist - Ocala

Department: 070 - Treatment Alternatives for Safer Communities- Juvenile
Location: Leesburg, FL

Job Summary: This employee shall be actively involved in the comprehensive substance abuse rehabilitation program as a case coordinator, assessor, and facilitator. (S)he will assume program responsibilities as designated by the TASC Coordinator/Substance Abuse Services Program Supervisor.

  1. Management of referrals in a timely manner.
  2. Completion of a thorough evaluation and clear narrative      of findings regarding substance abuse or mental health conditions of the      adolescents referred.
  3. Recommendations for services where indicated based on      evaluation results.
  4. Collaboration with criminal justice entities.
  5. Professional behavior and maintenance of appropriate      boundaries.
  6. Perform substance outpatient coordination including      screening for eligibility and assessment of needs.
  7. Prepare written report of assessment findings with any      recommendations for intervention of treatment and deliver to referring      party.
  8. Promote activities and strategies that are used to      prevent or impede the development or progression of substance abuse      problems.
  9. May facilitate groups to emphasize improvement on life      skills with emphasis on substance abuse cessation.
  10. May promote substance abuse education among clients,      families and the community.
  11. May develop intervention plans with clients that have      achievable goals and objectives that are measurable.
  12. Maintain communication with referral sources and the      courts.
  13. Maintain records and transmissions of records as      dictated by 65D-30 and contractual      agreements.
  14. Attend staff meetings and formal records review.
  15. Perform such duties, responsibilities and special      projects as may be assigned from time to time by the TASC Coordinator/Substance      Abuse Program Manager.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND JOB SKILLS: Persons working in this position must have a working knowledge of chemical dependency that includes AA/NA 12-step philosophy and rehabilitation techniques. (S)he must also be familiar with the physical and emotional characteristics associated with the disease concept.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Graduation from an accredited institution obtaining a Bachelorís degree in a Mental Health field.

Experience: CAP, CJAP, CJAC or two years experience in the substance abuse field working toward certification.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Staff Development: Be able to meet all staff development requirements as indicated on the Individual Training Plan.
