Lead Behavioral Tech

Department: 075 - Adult Choice - SA Residential
Location: Leesburg, FL

The Adult Residential Substance Abuse Behavioral Technician Team Lead provides supportive services and supervision to residents and other behavioral technicians on a daily basis in order to facilitate residentsí development in all areas of daily living skills. The Team Lead ensures residentsí safety and well being, assists in maintenance of a clean and neat environment throughout the unit, provides leadership to Behavioral Technicians I, II, and III, and provides orientation and education regarding staff responsibilities to all new technicians.

This position requires a self-motivated and conscientious individual who is both empathic towards consumers and staff, as well as an effective leader who is capable of enforcing rules and following through with consequences when necessary. Consistency in personal effectiveness is essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES: The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification with or without an accommodation. Provide for a therapeutic milieu, assisting residents in daily living, resocialization, and life management skills. Monitor consumersí daily behavior with the appropriate reporting through DAP notes and recording in TIER. Supervise and observe all residents, following and enforcing program rules and regulations consistently. Monitor the self-administration of medication, and ensure med orders, med administration log, and medication count log are all current and accurate. Enter medications into TIER as prescribed by physician, entering medications on proper MAR sheets when there are new medications and/or changes. Ensure proper documentation on feedback logs and audits for completeness. Assist with transportation as necessary. Assists and/or provides group treatment activities as scheduled and monitors consumerís meals. Attend Treatment Team meetings and relay appropriate information of consumersí behavior on unit, i.e. Learning Experiences (L.E.s), observed behaviors, individualized treatment plan engagement and fulfillment, etc. Follow through with Treatment Team and Program Supervisor directives. Conduct breathalyzer / urinalysis tests as scheduled and on an as needed basis. Maintain and produce the unit breathalyzer / urinalysis random schedule and ensure it is being followed and documented appropriately by behavioral technicians in accordance to facility regulations. Provide quality recovery services by collaborating with the Treatment Team, fellow behavioral technicians, other LSBC staff as necessary, in order to best assist consumers with substance abuse treatment and treatment of mental illness. Monitor unit staffing schedule posted by Program Supervisor and alert Program Supervisor any staffing errors, changes, call-outs, or other issues that may arise to ensure proper staff coverage on units at all times. Provide key recovery services such as application and coordination of available financial resources, such as TANF, Medicaid, and / or other governmental assistance or programs which may be appropriate.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: HS Diploma 3 years experience in substance abuse      treatment settings
  • Preferred: BA degree in psychology, or other closely related      social sciences 1 year experience in substance abuse treatment  

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT: Completes all requirements according to Individual Training Plan within the first six months of hire and annually. Other training and/or professional development may be assigned due to evolution of programs.
