Behavioral Specialist

Department: 030 - Treatment Alternatives for Safer Communities
Location: Citrus County, FL

RESPONSIBILITIES:   The employee in this position is responsible for providing intervention services in the form of screening, assessment, group and individual sessions with court ordered consumers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The TASC Behavioral Specialist shall perform the following responsibilities without limitation.

1)     Perform outpatient intervention counseling

2)     Perform emergency screenings, assessments, interventions as needed

3)     Be knowledgeable of the Marchman Act

4)     Facilitate didactic group sessions

5)     Maintain open communication and respect with referral sources

6)     Promote substance abuse education in the community

7)     Adhere to intervention protocol as addressed in Chapter 65D-30

8)     Assist in networking resources and referral services for consumers

9)     Maintain center records in accordance with stated policies and procedures.

10) Maintain consistency and accountability in consumer/contract reporting requirements.

11) Maintain current all staff development requirements for this position.

KNOWLEDGE AND JOB SKILLS:

The TASC behavioral specialist shall have a working knowledge of chemical dependency that includes AA/NA 12 step philosophy and prevention/intervention techniques. She/he must be familiar with the physical emotional characteristics associated with the chemical dependency and other behaviors that result in criminal justice involvement such as domestic violence.

Judgment:

Able to make sound, independent clinical decisions based on best practice standards, which demonstrate consumer-centered values. Must utilize judgment in a manner that will actively promote the Center through their actions and interactions with others.

SUPERVISION:

Reports to the SUD Outpatient Program Services Manager

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Less than BA TASC Behavioral Specialist: two years experience working in the substance abuse or related field, and a valid High School Diploma or GED. If recovering, must have at least one year sobriety.

TASC Behavioral Specialist: two years experience working in the substance abuse or related field. Graduation from an accredited and/or licensed and state approved institution obtaining a Bachelorís degree in a Human Services field.
