Substance Abuse Therapist - Part Time

Department: 035 - Turnabout
Location: Citrus County, FL

FUNCTION: The employee in this position is responsible for providing direct treatment services in the form of assessment, group, family, and individual counseling to adolescent clients and their families in the Child Substance Abuse Outpatient Program (Turnabout).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Turnabout Therapist shall, without limitation, perform the following responsibilities:

(1) Assist in the screening process and perform clinical intake assessments.

(2) Provide individual, family, and group therapy and facilitate psychoeducation, regarding topics commensurate with knowledge in the field of substance abuse and other life skills.

(3) Assist in networking resources and referral services for clients, when appropriate.

(4) Collaborate Turnabout services with services of other programs providing for seamless, integrated, continuum of care.

(5) Develop specific, measurable, active, realistic, and time-related treatment plans with clients, carrying out the interventions necessary to meet each individual clientís written objectives.

(6) Explain test results, diagnostic issues to clients and families, when utilized as part of treatment.

(7) Document progress or lack of progress toward fulfillment of treatment plan goals and objectives, and maintain center records in accordance with stated policies and procedures.

(8) Participate in staff meetings and formal records review (peer review) functions as necessary or required.

(9) Perform such duties, responsibilities, and special projects as may be assigned from time to time by the Outpatient Substance Abuse Services Supervisor.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND JOB SKILLS: Clinical skills and abilities in the areas of assessment, treatment planning, referral and discharge planning. Effective and efficient documentation skills. Skilled and knowledgeable in the theory and practice of group, individual, and family psychotherapy. Knowledgeable in the models pertaining to chemical dependency, adolescent life skills, and anger management, possessing the ability to present these models to clients, families, and staff.

JUDGEMENT: Able to make sound, independent clinical decisions based on best practice standards, which demonstrate participant-centered values.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: Masterís degree from a licensed and approved college or university in psychology, social work or counseling.

 

Experience: Two years counseling experience, preferably with adolescents and preferably in a chemical dependency setting.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct supervisory responsibilities.

 

Essential Functions: Conduct direct clinical services. If recovering, must have at least two years sobriety.

Staff Development: Completes all administrative and competency requirements as identified in his/her Individual Training Plan.
