Behavioral Tech - Flex Shifts

Department: 045 - Our Turning Point Ranch - OTPR
Location: Umatilla, FL

FUNCTION: Provides close supervision and assistance in daily living to individuals served and psychiatrically impaired residents while ensuring individuals safety and well-being. Assists in individual needs assessment, treatment plan formulation and implementation. Assists in maintenance of a clean and neat environment throughout all components.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists residents with cleaning personal area and laundry. Monitors residents daily behavior with the appropriate reporting and recording of such information. Monitors the self-administration of medication for Our Turning Point individuals. Ensures proper documentation in the computer tier system of Lifestream Behavioral Center. Assists with transportation as necessary. Assists and/or provides group treatment activities as scheduled. Monitors residents meals and ensures compliance with prescribed diet. Educates individuals in the preparation of meals according to DCF guidelines. Notifies appropriate staff on a weekly basis when supplies are needed. Stocks supplies when received.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND JOB SKILLS: Must be able to effectively deal with psychiatrically impaired individuals. Possesses the ability to communicate and provide accurate descriptions of observed behavior. Must be able to perform basic first aid skills. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency and maintain current CPR certification. Must complete and demonstrate Defensive Procedure Training, NAPPI annually, and updates. Must complete NAPPI training and updates. Must demonstrate proficiency in obtaining vital signs, monitoring I and O, and other common procedures ordered by physician. Behavioral Tech I must have legible written documentation, computer skills, and good documentation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Must meet criteria to obtain certification by FCB.

 

Experience: Desirable to have experience working with adult mental Illness population.

 

Personal Qualities: Must be assertive and have a tenacious work ethic. Must be honest, dependable, well-organized, detail oriented, and self-directed.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises resident activities as needed to ensure a safe and secure environment.

 

Special Factors: Must demonstrate a calm, friendly approach toward residents and their families, as well as co-workers. Must have the ability to function as a team member.

 

Essential Functions: Provides supportive care with assistance in daily living activities. Observes individuals behavior and accurately reports information to appropriate staff. Maintains current and accurate documentation of observations as required by Center procedures. Maintains a safe environment for residents.

 

Staff Development: Completes administrative and competency requirements as identified in the Individual Training Plan.
